Vineet Dhar, BDS, MS, PhD, associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, presented a lecture titled “Fissure sealants: an evidence-based update” at the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry’s 36th national conference in Lucknow, India, in October. Dr. Dhar also presented a lecture titled “Effectiveness of current therapies in management of Early Childhood Caries” at the conference Innovations in the Prevention and Treatment of Early Childhood Caries held in Ellicott City, Md., in October.
Ashraf Fouad, DDS, MS, professor and chair of the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, presented a lecture titled “Endodontic Microbiology” at the Academic Review of Endodontology at Temple University in Philadelphia in September. Dr. Fouad also presented lectures titled: “Endodontics in the Digital Age: Basic Principle and Future Directions” at the American College of Prosthodontists Annual Session in New Orleans in November; “The Microbial Challenge to Pulp Regeneration” at the Penick Endodontics Study Club in Bethesda in November; and “Endodontic treatment outcomes in patients with complex medical history: Microbiological and Clinical factors,” a six-hour course, at the Navy Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda
Joel Greenspan, PhD, professor and chair of the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, presented the poster “Transcranial Direct Current Stimulations Specifically Reduces the Area of Secondary Hyperalgesia induced by the Capsaisin-Heat Pain Model,” at the 2014 Neuroscience conference in Washington, D.C. in November. Dr. Greenspan also presented the poster “Persistent Warm Disrupts While Painful Stimulation Enhances Functional Connectivity within the Somatomotor Network in the Healthy Human Brain,” at the 15th World Congress on Pain, in October in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Gary Hack, DDS ’79, associate professor in the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry and director of simulation research presented the poster “An Interprofessional Approach to Diabetes Screening in a Dental Clinic” during the American Public Health Association annual conference in New Orleans in November.
William Hoffman, MAS, department administrator for the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry and MaDonna Perry, administrator of the Center for Stem Cell Biology at the School of Medicine, gave a presentation entitled “Stretched Thin. . .Understanding Department Administration” at the 2014 annual meeting of the Society of Research Administrators on Oct. 18 in San Diego. Hoffman also gave a presentation entitled “Strategies for Success: Assisting Principal Investigators in Funding Projects between Awards” with a colleague from Manhattan College.
Mark A. Reynolds, DDS '86, PhD, MA, dean and professor, gave a presentation entitled "Role of Lasers in Periodontal Regeneration" during the 100th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology in San Francisco in September.

David Seminowicz, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, presented a lecture titled “Prefrontal-subcorical circuitry in prolonged experimental pain and chronic pain conditions,” during the Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting in Washington D.C., in November.
Scott Swank, DDS ’89, assistant professor in the Division of Dental Public Health and curator of the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Museum of Dentistry, gave a presentation entitled “Dentistry: Where Did It Start?” for the Reynolds Historical Lecture Series at the University of Alabama in October.
