Richard Manski, DDS, MBA, PhD, professor and chief of the Division of Dental Public Health, and collaborators, received a $10,000 seed grant from the UMB Center for Interprofessional Education to study online, interprofessional health care education.

Radi Masri, DDS, MS ’01, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, and Didier Depireux, associate research scientist at the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering, received a $25,000 BioMaryland LIFE (Leading Innovative Faculty Entrepreneurship) award from the Maryland Biotech Center for their research, which involves using nanoparticles to deliver drugs into tooth pulp.

Tontesh Tawady, DDS

Tontesh Tawady, DDS, a first-year endodontics resident, received a $14,400 grant from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation to fund his research project, “The Relationship between Short-Term Healing of Periapical Lesions and Glycemic Control.”

Patricia Tordik, DMD, professor and director of postgraduate endodontics in the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, received a one-year, $4,000 award from the American Association of Endodontists Foundation for an endodontics resident research project.

William Wahle, DDS, a second-year prosthodontics resident, received a $3,942 Stanley D. Tylman Research Grant from the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics for his research, which studies the effectiveness of using radiographs to effectively determine the marginal opening when placing a crown.
