Speaker Biography
Dr. Marc Schlenoff, a 1981 graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School, practiced general and esthetic dentistry in New Jersey from 1983-2016. He works with Fortune Management as both a practice management and clinical mastery coach. Prior to this, he was the director of Clinical Development at Tend, a startup group of dental practices in New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
Previously, he had been the director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program, Assistant Professor, Department of Prosthodontics at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. In this role, he oversaw a program with 27 residents and was responsible for teaching, administration, clinical oversight, and overall guidance. He was also the medical director for Columbia University Health Care and chaired the Clinical Care and Quality Assurance Committees.
Dr. Schlenoff completed all levels of the Rosenthal Institute Aesthetic Advantage at NYU, where he has been a lecturer and clinical instructor for the past 20 years. He has also taught hands-on courses at AACD meetings, and well as internationally.
As an attending dentist at Morristown Medical Center, where he trained dental residents in both clinical dentistry and practice management, Dr. Schlenoff was the first recipient of the Morton Wertheimer Award for teaching excellence. He was also a member of the faculty at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Medical College, where he was honored as the Attending Dentist of the Year.
He has been an active member of the ADA, AACD, and the AGD, where he is a Fellow. He has published articles in Dental Economics and Inside Dentistry and did a podcast with Howard Farran on Dentaltown.
Dr. Schlenoff has donated time and care to Special Olympics, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Give Back a Smile, and Donated Dental Services.
Course Description
The course will be a mix of clinical, inter-personal, and business skills necessary to create and enjoy an aesthetically based dental practice. It will be interactive, with the hope that attendees will discuss the challenges they face in their practices.
We will also have a representative from Jason Kim Lab (Marcello Allegra) to speak to the dentist/laboratory relationship.
Course Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Improve their initial appointment with a new patient to create both a relationship as well as a “wow’ factor.
- Realize the diagnostic and technical skills needed, and help to create a pathway to achieve these.
- Understand the concept of creating trust and value with our patients.
- Learn how to interact with your lab to achieve the best results properly.
- Create a template for the initial patient appointment, examination, and treatment plan.
