Frederico C. Martinho, DDS, MSc, PhD, clinical associate professor and director, Predoctoral Endodontics, in the Department of Advanced Oral Sciences and Therapeutics is the 2022 recipient of the Endodontic Educator Fellowship Award bestowed by the American Association of Endodontists Foundation (AAEF).
Established by the Foundation in 2001, the honor recognizes the “critical role that educators play in strengthening the specialty.” The award provides funding to those who agree to commit to a full-time academic career in endodontics at a dental school that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Recipients receive stipend for up to five-years.
“This award recognizes the value of individuals who choose to pursue a career in academics”, Martinho said. “It allows me to refine my teaching skills, enhance the quality of student interactions, and help me facilitate markedly improved student outcomes.”
In her letter announcing the award, Margot T. Kusienski, DMD, AAEF President and award committee chair, applauded Martinho’s many achievements, adding: “We know that you will be an exemplary representative for the program and an outstanding educator.”
