Dr. Mary Beth Aichelmann-Reidy

Dr. Mary Beth ReidyDr. Aichelmann-Reidy is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Periodontics and currently associate director of the Postgraduate Periodontics Program. She directs pre-doctoral and postgraduate courses in Periodontics, and mentors the periodontics residents in their research projects. Her research interests and publications are in the field of regenerative periodontal medicine, systemic/periodontal interactions and dental implants. She obtained her dental degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, with honors, in 1987 and was inducted in to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. In 1989, she completed her certificate in periodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Fellow of the American College of Dentists. She maintains a practice specializing in periodontology and implant dentistry at the University of Maryland Faculty Practice. She currently serves as secretary of the American Association of Women Dentists and is on the Board of Directors of the Smiles for Success Foundation. She also serves as the women’s liaison officer to ADEA for the dental school and is responsible for the development of the first national pilot program of student-based donated dental care of “Smiles for Success" at the University of Maryland.
