The paper, “Epigenetic regulation of persistent pain,” co-written by Guang Bai, PhD, MD, research assistant professor, Ronald Dubner, DDS, PhD, professor, and Ke Ren, PhD, MD, professor in the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences was published in the January edition of the journal Translational Research.

The paper “Clostridium difficile toxin B intoxicated mouse colonic epithelial C T26 cells stimulate the activation of dendritic cells,” written by Hanping Feng, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Microbial Pathogenesis, and others, was published  in the Pathogens and Disease epub in January. Feng is also among the co-authors of the paper, “Masking autoprocessing of Clostridium difficile toxin A by the C-terminus combined repetitive oligo peptides,” which was published in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications in February; “Chondroitun sulfate proteoglycan 4 functions as the cellular receptor for Clostridium difficile toxin B,” which was published in the journal Cell Research in December; and “Mechanisms of protection against Clostridium difficile infection by the monoclonal antitoxin antibodies actoxumab and bezlotoxumab,” which was published in the journal Infection and Immunity in December.

The paper “Interfacial characteristics of Biodentine and MTA with dentine in simulated body fluid,” co-written by Ashraf Fouad, DDS, MS, chair of the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, Ali Nosrat, DDS, MS, endodontics resident, and others, was published in the December edition of the Journal of Dentistry.

The paper “The value of interprofessional education,” written by Jacquelyn Fried, RDH, MS, associate professor and director of interprofessional initiatives, was published by the journal Dimensions of Dental Hygiene in December. Fried is also co-author of the paper, “Enhancing Dental and Dental Hygiene Student Awareness of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Population,” which was published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene in February.

The paper “Behavioral, metabolic and functional brain changes in a rat model of chronic neuropathic pain: A longitudinal MRI study,” co-written by Radi Masri, DDS, PhD, MS, research associate professor in the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, David Seminowicz, PhD, research assistant professor in the Department of Neural and Pain Sciences, Shariq Khan, DDS '17, and others, was published in the journal NeuroImage in December.

The paper “The Influence of Dentin Demineralization on Morphological Features of Cavities Using Er:YAG Laser,” co-written by Mary Anne Melo, DDS, MSc, PhD, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, and others, was published in the journal Photomedicine and Laser Surgery in January.

The paper “Central odontogenic fibroma of the gingiva: a case report,” co-written by Ahmad Soolari, DDS, periodontics resident, was published in the Open Dentistry Journal in January.

The paper “Early childhood caries and intake of 100 percent fruit juice,” co-written by Clemencia Vargas, DDS, PhD, associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, and others, was published in the December edition of the Journal of the American Dental Association.

The paper "Bone tissue engineering via human induced pluripotent, umbilical cord and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in rat cranium", co-written by Ping Wang, DDS, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in Department of Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry, Hockin Xu, PhD, MS, professor and director of Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, and others, was published in Acta Biomaterialia in February. Xu is also among the co-authors of the paper “A novel protein-repellent dental composite containing 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine,” which was published in the International Journal of Oral Science in February, and the paper “Development of novel self-healing and antibacterial dental composite containing calcium phosphate nanoparticles,” which was published in the Journal of Dentistry in January.
